Narrative Evaluation

The Martin Luther King website doesnt look up to date. I dont see any dates for anything,or when the page was created. Although it does say NEW by some links or videos.

There doesnt seem to be a author. I saw some of the other headings and this information is pulled from other sources which are listed at the bottom of the page.

The pages sources listed seem to be reliable. There are no crdentials available, there is also no way to reach anybody.

The domain does use .org

I believe the page is not really useful, it seems like a hate page and alot of opinionated thoughts and questions being asked for the audiance to think about.

The site is targeted for and older audiance like highschool and up.

One of the links is not reliable there was an error on the "Historical Writings" page

The text is legible, there are not really many colors to make tha page more vivid and alive. There are some videos available to watch. There are no serch engines available on this page.

I believe this page is based on opinionated thoughts. I dont think this is a good website because I dont see very many facts, it doesnt provide good information that can be used in a paper. There is also nobody that can be reached and the author is not listed. I never saw any dates which shows it proably is not an up to date website.

The article talks about a term called "cookies" which means an identifier is sent to your computer, by web servers. It is surveillance to see what you are doing. Or reduce functional problems with internet protocol. They are also useful by storing passwords or logins, credit card information, or just personal preferences.

What do they hack? Anything. They can lok at websites you go, on credit card reports, or even get a copy of your birth cirtificate. Online banking is also one of them.

Are they helping or hurting the internet? In a way there doing both. If the hackers are getting personal information and useing it it is hurting us. If they send helpful messages telling you how to fix the problem, because they were able to break in this is helpful.

"Free" Internet Service Offers- are they really free?

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/freeispalrt.shtm

The Federal Trade Comission is trying t let us know that providers are being tricky with the free internet services. Providers give certain trials for a couple months, then they tell you that its free for a certain time period. But what we dont know is that they are really tricking us. At the end of the months they try to automatically sign you up. If we decide we dont want the trial they list a number thats long distance which makes us have to pay. The article provides some questions you can ask providers specifically so you are not being fooled.

Internet Use Survey

For this assignment the class was to ask five people of any age or sex, about their internet use. The questions consisted of how many hours a week a person would spend on entertainment, sending e-mail or comparing prices -ect.

My results were based on more of a female response. There was an eighteen, forty nine, thirty, and fifty-two year old female, And one eighteen year old male. The older females didnt spend as much time on the internet for games, making webpages, or instant messaging. The internet time was used more for work. The younger female and male spent more time downloading music, instant messaging, and browsing for entertainment.

I think my results made sense because as you get older you take more responsibility and become busier. Students still have time for talking to friends and keeping in touch, as well as downloading music.
